The ferocity and spectacle of drag racing is emboldened by star-like projections radiating around the car and driver in this work by Mario Correa. Recipient of a prestigious Joan Mitchell Foundation MFA Grant in Visual Art in 2001, Correa earned his MFA in Art that same year from the California Institute of the Arts. This year Mario Correa’s work has been included in several group shows, including “Wake Up and Apologize” at Hayworth Gallery and “Chinatown Collective” at Pruess Press, both in Los Angeles. In 2003 and 2002, Correa had solo exhibitions at Acuna-Hansen Gallery in Los Angeles. He has contributed to Cakewalk and Arkitip magazines.
