For four decades, Christo and his wife and collaborator, Jeanne-Claude, have created some of the most audacious and striking public artworks throughout the world. Born Christo Vladimirov Javacheff in Gabrova, Bulgaria, and now based in New York, Christo and Jeanne-Claude, have gone on to become among the world’s most renowned artists. Their temporary large-scale environmental works (both urban and rural) have elements of painting, sculpture, architecture, and urban planning. This summer, Christo and Jeanne-Claude had a major exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, entitled “Urban Art by Christo and Jeanne-Claude.”
