“Ruben Ochoa’s practice derives from the spaces he navigates through, from a past in street vending to working behind a desk now and commuting from city to city throughout the freeways of Southern California,” says text from the Laguna Art Musem where Ochoa’s work is currently on display. This photograph is from a series of works devoted to capturing gruesome, sometimes fatal, and always fictional accidents involving shopping carts and their victims. His work has been seen throughout Southern California and he will be included in the Orange County Museum of Art’s 2004 California Biennial. He received his MFA from University of California, Irvine in 2002.
