Lot 50 Best known as a filmmaker for her Oscar-winning motion picture “Lost in Translation” (Best Original Screenplay) as well as her critically-acclaimed feature “Virgin Suicides,” Sofia Coppola is also an accomplished clothing designer, vitner, muse, and, as we see here, photographer. She is currently writing and preparing to direct “Marie-Antoinette,” a period film biopic that will focus on the French queen and her husband Louis XVI, both of whom died as a result of the French Revolution. About the project, she said, “I’ve always loved the story of Marie-Antoinette and the decadence of Versailles on the brink of revolution, and the fact that she was just a teenager when circumstances forced her to play a significant role in history.” Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions is grateful to Ms. Coppola for graciously agreeing to serve on the Honorary Committee of its 25th Annual Benefit Art Auction. |
