Lot 55 This serene monochromatic composition of Steve Schmidt has an unexpected nuance as it is made with pieces of the poly(vinylchloride), or PVC, a plastic that is used for plumbing and which is presenting a growing environmental waste hazard. Schmidt’s work been seen in solo shows in Los Angeles, most recently at Carl Berg Gallery, and in numerous group exhibitions such as “Ultrachrome,” also at Carl Berg, “Recycle Renew, Art from Trash” at Muchenthaler Cultural Center Foundation in Fullerton, California, and “Beauty Stripped Bare” at BHG Gallery in Santa Monica. |
