Collaborators for ten years, Nicolas Kahn and Richard Selesnick have together produced bodies of work in diverse media including painting, sculpture, photography and writing. In their art Kahn and Selesnick create fictional worlds: “Like all good forgers, [they] authenticate photographs with documentation and documentation with artifact, though, unlike their criminal counterparts, they demonstrate a gleeful disregard for plausibility." (Miles Unger, New York Times) Each artist earned his degree from Washington University in St. Louis in 1986. Their work, which is in numerous private and public collections including the Fogg Museum in Boston, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C., was introduced to Los Angeles audiences in a solo exhibition at Paul Kopeikin Gallery in Los Angeles, in 2002.
