SUMMER 2009 INTERNSHIP AND VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:
WE ARE CURRENTLY ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR 2009 IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS:
GALLERY ATTENDANT- FALLEN FRUIT: UNITED FRUIT
Attendants will work with the LACE team to carry out the day-to-day operations of the gallery during the summer exhibition United Fruit by artist collective Fallen Fruit. Attendants will have the opportunity to interact directly with visitors and artists during gallery hours. Attendants will also attend private walkthroughs with the artists to learn about the project and be able to fully education the public on LACE’s programming. This position provides a point of entry to contemporary art.
Responsibilities include:
. tracking gallery attendance and ensuring quality of visitors’ experience through
facility maintenance.
. performing day-to-day duties, including opening/ closing gallery, tracking
attendance, facility maintenance
. providing curatorial and production support as needed . performing clerical duties, including answering phone calls, sorting mail, and
. researching artists and relevant information for upcoming publications.
. greeting visitors and educating the public about LACE’s programming.
, and assisting during special events.
Requirements include:
. Excellent communication skills.
. Must be available during weekends and some evenings during special events.
. Must be interested in contemporary art and willing to learn about current and
upcoming LACE exhibitions.
. Technical experience (a/v operation) is desired.
Communications Intern will assist the Outreach Coordinator in the promotion of organization’s summer program, which will feature UNITED FRUIT by the Los Angeles based collective FALLEN FRUIT. This position offers the opportunity to gain experience in community-building and public relations in a non-profit arts organization and requires an independent and detail-oriented applicant with excellent writing and communication skills.
Responsibilities include:
. update press list
. create and distributing promotional materials and press releases
. reviewing and archiving press articles related to organization
. reach out to press contacts about upcoming events to foster long term relationships
between press and LACE
. populate Facebook and various blogs with information on LACE
. greeting visitors and educating the public about LACE’s programming
. tracking gallery attendance and ensuring quality of visitors’ experience through
facility maintenance
. performing day-to-day duties, including opening/ closing gallery, tracking
attendance, and assisting during special events.
Requirements include:
. Knowledge of Macintosh applications. Familiarity with Photoshop
is a plus.
. Must be interested in contemporary art and willing to learn about current and
upcoming LACE exhibitions.
. Evening and weekend assistance may be requested during special events.

CURATORIAL INTERN
Attendants will assist the Executive Director in the production of the fall programming, including the exhibition I Feel Different and a large-scale Hollywood public art project. Interns will conduct research and analysis for the planning of these two LACE projects. Interns will also interact directly with visitors during gallery hours and attend private walkthroughs with the artists to learn about the current exhibitions and be able to educate the public on LACE’s programming. This position provides a point of entry to contemporary art and nonprofit administration.
Responsibilities include:
. providing curatorial support to LACE team
. researching information on prospective artists for upcoming LACE projects
. analyzing timeline and costs for the production for the fall program
. performing day-to-day duties, including opening/ closing gallery, tracking
attendance and facility maintenance . performing clerical duties, including answering phone calls and sorting mail
. researching artists and relevant information for upcoming publications
. greeting visitors and educating the public about LACE’s programming
. assisting during special events.
Requirements include:
