Women Don't Get AIDS, We Just Die From It Join us for a public discussion on women, AIDS activism and cultural action yesterday, today and tomorrow. This forum will bring together a diverse group of women involved in AIDS activism past and the current fight against HIV among women of color, transgender, youth, and migrant women. Two recent landmark events - the historic exhibition WACK! Art and the Feminist Revolution and the 20th anniversary of the founding of ACT UP (AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power) - ask us to focus on the point of contact between the women's movement and AIDS activism, between cultural activism and community organizing, between yesterday's AIDS epidemic and today's women's health crisis. Organized by CHAMP (Community HIV/AIDS Mobilization Project). Sponsored by LACE and The L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center. Images at the event courtesy of the Center for the Study of Political Graphics. |
