TRI-ANNUALE
(PART 3): PINWHEEL
an
exhibition organized by artist Jason Meadows
Saturday 8
April through Saturday 29 April 2000
Artist Jason Meadows
organized Tri-Annuale (Part 3): Pinwheel, incorporating work
by three other young Los Angeles-based artists into a video sculpture.
Jason Meadows had invited
Los Angeles-based artists Gregg Einhorn, Michele OMarah,
and Brent Petersen to present new work within the context
of Pinwheel, a three-dimensional screen designed for the
simultaneous projection of all three artists videos. Meadows
installation design is based on his interest in exploring potential
formats for the presentation of video. In particular, Meadows is
interested in a formal exercise that reduces projected video to
projected light, and how form and content -- or medium and message
-- can be separated. In addition, the three artists whose work will
be screened each use video in very different ways -- as an extension
of photography, as a vehicle for narrative storytelling, and as
surreptitious documentary. This exhibition will be the final installment
in our Tri-Annuale series.
