MARKETING AND DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR SEARCH

(OCTOBER 2006) LACE, internationally recognized nonprofit contemporary art center located in the heart of Hollywood, seeks a part-time Marketing and Development Coordinator looking to grow professionally while building on the organization's rich 28-year history of expanding interactions between art and audience and nurturing bold advances in creative forms.

The Marketing and Development Coordinator is a key member of the core LACE team of four staff members. This position plays a critical role in LACE's plan to implement inventive marketing strategies, diversify income streams, optimize audience-building opportunities, and continue to raise the profile of LACE.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong passion for the arts and visual culture
  • Thrives in a high energy environment and can think out-of-the-box
  • Two years' experience in development or marketing in a non-profit organization
  • Exceptional writing and verbal skills; interpersonal and friendly
  • Highly organized, with computer and database management proficiency and able to meet multiple deadlines in a dynamic environment
  • Able to recognize and maximize connections between income opportunities and institutional needs
  • Demonstrated aptitude for communicating organizational vision, history, and mission to the public through printed materials, inventive public relations, and alliances
  • Experience building strategic partnerships

Intern and Volunteer Opportunities:
LACE offers unpaid*, semester-long internships to undergraduates, graduate students, and recent graduates. Internships can be semester-long, summer-long, or for the month of January. We ask that all interns work a minimum of 15 hours a week, preferably a minimum of 2 full-time days. January internships are generally full-time, 40 hours per week.


WE ARE CURRENTLY ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR FALL 2006
IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS:

Administrative Assistant
Works with the Managing Director, the Executive Director, and other staff to carry out the day-to-day operations of the galleries and offices of LACE. An excellent introduction to nonprofit arts administration. Requires exacting attention to detail.

Communications Assistant
Works with the Executive Director and other staff to promote the organization's programs. This position is ideal for an independent, outgoing student with excellent writing, speaking, and digital communication skills. Familiarity with web and graphic design software desired.

Development Assistant
Assists Development Coordinator with fundraising and membership-related matters. This internship offers a thorough introduction to event-based fundraising, grantsmanship, marketing to members, and member education at a not-for-profit arts organization.

Gallery Guide
Interacts directly with the public and educates visitors about current exhibitions and events. Provides point of entry to adventurous contemporary art. Ensures security of artwork and quality of audience experience. Requires excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.

Program Assistant
Assists Program Coordinator in all aspects of programming. This position offers an opportunity to be directly involved in program and event-related matters. Technical experience (a/v operation) desired.
